Timeshares England

Anyone ever done a volunteer vacation? I would like to help at either an historic or archeologic site.?

I am especially interested in England. We have a timeshare that would enable us to stay for a week there with the volunteering added on at either end. I have run across several websites including vfp.org. Has anyone had any experience with them in particular or others that they would recommend.

We are in our mid 40's and I want to travel but want to be helpful at the same. Did you feel the experience was beneficial to the organization and what did you get out of it that stayed with you the most?
